RAR 064 – Bury Them and Keep Quiet “Failure of the Guardians”
“Failure of the Guardians” is the second-release from one-man black metal project, Bury Them and Keep Quiet, from Brooklyn, NY. Forest Cutrer, the artist behind the project, says the title of the album is a reference to how humans “totally fucked up” the planet. “Humanity squandered away amazing gifts and the opportunity to exist and thrive on a lush planet, all so that we could hoard more resources than our neighbors at the expense of our oneness with the universe.” The pointed anger at the destruction of the environment is fully present on this seven song salvo; driving guitars, pummeling percussion, and full throated screams coalesce in a ball of seething rage. Yet, “Failure of the Guardians”, is also about the growing acceptance of this reality, the constant unease and sadness that comes with disgust. The sweeping use of synthesizer layered on top of non-traditional song structures builds a sense of continual dread on full display throughout the album.
Limited to 30 hand-dubbed copies on translucent red cassette shells with pro J-card.
