“Kaethedral” is the most recent, and perhaps last, EP from Boston-based black metal project, Crystalarium. Released digitally in October of 2019, “Kaethedral” evaded a physical release while founding member Ian Henry moved cross country. Though Crystalarium remains dormant, the dark sounds emanating from the freezing corridors of “Kaethedral” are as loud and relevant as ever. The six-song opus is penned as a dedication to the Boston underground music scene, ringing out through sinister shrieks and guitars that oscillate between mid-tempo DSBM and prog-influenced riffing. Lyrically the band waxes between nihilistic suffering and the lamentation of a world destroyed by capitalistic endeavors ("Death comes swiftly for/ These ancient gods that came before us / No conscience, no reason/ Just profit and coddled freedom").
